I have this two adorable bb's for about two weeks, after my old "granny bunny" died (she was 12 years old).

I gave them greek names: Ikarus and Elara =)
They're teddy-bunnies.

Does anyone ever do regular, every-day things only to fascinate your bun with them?

Tonight I was doing a work out DVD (since I was home alone; can't do them around other humans :P) and doing lunges and whatnot. I glance down and see Dmitri all prim and proper to my left, staring at me for several minutes while I moved.

Then he ran off and, five minutes later, showed up again to stare at me from the hall. Then binkied to the side as if to say "Look mama, I'm doing it too!"

Additions and improvements for Paid Feature

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 2:11 PM
We've made some additions and improvements to Notes!

The Notes feature has been added to two action-taking pages:
  • You can now add a Note directly on the Add a friend page - handy if you'd like to mark down where you met them or another name you know them by!
  • On the Ban and unban users page (under Account -> Privacy) you can now add a Note, including to a group of users all banned at the same time (so that next year you won't need to ask yourself "hey, why did I ban these guys?")

Other changes:
  • When you're viewing your existing Notes they're grayed out; click in a field to activate it to change the text (this page can be found from the header by using Profile -> Manage Notes)
  • Changes to editing:
    • When you're going to create a new Note but one already exists, you'll get a warning that you're editing an existing Note
    • You can now delete a note from the "Edit note" pop-up in the hover menu
    • You can now delete notes for multiple selected users on the Manage notes page
    • When you change Notes on "Ban|unban users" page, they can be edited and saved with "Save Changes" button

how in the world can my bun eat and drink with the big tube around her head? she just got spayed and its too big for her to drink or eat!! she also drinks from a bowl so a water bottle wont work :(

what should i do?
So as you know probably we lost our Sophers, and adopted a new teenage bun who is a doll (I'll let my son explain below.) I have no pictures b/c my kids broke my camera unfortunately:(

I'll share with you what my son literally *just* wrote (he's home from school now, we've been battling the school district so I've been playing teacher.) He JUST finished, mommy kept at him about writing more info, describing her as if the reader has never met our pets, etc. and then I realized I could share with ya'll!!! (I have his permission!) The brackets are me :)

"We just adopted a rabbit named Zoey. We adopted her because our bunny Sophie died and she was Leo's mate. We are going to bond Leo and Zoey. We got her at Petsmart from the shelter and we picked her because she came over to us and kissed us. I love Zoey because she is so sweet and cuddling [cuddly]. She also has a girl bunny doolap [dewlap]. She is adorable, sweet, but sometimes a rascal. Her colors are black and white. She has black ears, black eyes [rings around her eyes], and a white back and butt. Her tail is black and white and [she has] two small black spots on her shoulder and butt. I love my Zoey girl."

Milsap's Rule

Because of the company writing down the budget for this year, I get an incentive bonus because I'm performing better than average in terms of sales. Mmmm.... $$bonus$$

Been playing a lot of games lately with the latest being Tekken 6. Maining Lili for the moment, but hoping to get back into with Julia and Armor King. My PSP is also keeping me company and just won on trademe a copy of Tales of Eternia. That makes another game on my "to play" list along with Persona. Another thing as well, since I happen to have lost my copy of Final Fantasy X-2, I got a copy of Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission. Whee... to more job-cum-cosplay gameplay goodness.

My brother is getting a new PC for his pet project, so thru the powers of corporate discounts, I manage to get him a decent desktop from HP. Nothing real fancy, just enough grunt to run audio editing programs. What should be interesting though is having a go at Windows 7 that's installed on the thing. Now I have to see if I can find a cheap Wireless G adapter so his computer is connected to the router. Hmmm... I wonder if I can coerce him to get Vocaloid and work on it...

Who doesn't like cute bunny photos?

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 10:38 PM
Hi there! I've had my bunny, Oliver, for about three months now. A friend of mine rescued him after he was dumped on a trail near her work, and I'd been wanting a rabbit for ages, so I adopted him. I have no idea what his age or breed might be, but he sure is cute! He's a freeroaming house bunny now, he just has his food in the cage. He lives among my four cats, but they get along just fine. I even saw one of them grooming him the other day!

Some pictures for your enjoyment )

Advice?

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 5:07 PM
Hi all! I've been watching this community for some time and just wanted to ask some advice.

My two rabbits recently died and I'm just devastated.  Both were from local shelters.  I had one for three years; he was probably a few years old when I adopted him.  The other bunny I had just had for six months and was young when I got him.  The younger one died six weeks  ago and the older one died a week ago.

Both of them were totally fine, even the morning of the day that they died.  Literally, poop was fine, both were active and eating and drinking the morning on the day that they died and when I came home from work, they were dead.

I took both of them to get cremated at a nearby vet that doesn't see rabbits; my normal vet is farther away and it didn't occur to me to get an autopsy at the time.  The vet did a quick physical exam, but didn't find anything unusual with either of them, but sort of gave me a line about bunnies not showing many symptoms of sickness.  (Again, not my normal vet, but close to my house to drop off for cremation).

I feel really guilty about their dying and wondered what else I could have done; it seems like most people here describe bunnies who have physical symptoms before they died.  I was fully expecting them to live for years and years!  They had their own 8 x 8 room in my house, so plenty of space, hay, food, etc.  I would really like to adopt more bunnies eventually, but I just wonder if maybe I shouldn't, since I just had two die so suddenly.  I just don't want to be an irresponsible pet owner, so do any of you have any of advice for me?

Thanks!

Kleenmama's Hayloft Review

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 3:08 PM
Someone recently recommended Kleenmama's Hayloft as an alternative to the overpriced, dried up Kaytee brand hay from Petco and PetSmart. I ordered a 25lb bale of third cut timothy hay on Wednesday, November 4th for $18.00 + $17.00 S&H (Total: $35.00); I paid using my debit card via PayPal. It's not the best deal out there, but if you live in a major city and buying directly from a farm is not a possibility, it's pretty good- definitely better than the major pet supply stores. The order arrived exactly one week from the day it was placed, and the hay is fresh, super soft, and smells great. The cat won't get off the box and the bunnies have been pigging out since I filled their hay racks. My housemate and I are splitting the cost and sharing the hay, so I'm paying 1/2 as much for hay as I used to, and the hay is a MUCH better quality hay. Thanks to the quick turnaround and shipping via UPS, I know exactly how far in advance to place my order. I recommend this website to anyone who wants to order hay in bulk or just wants a better quality hay for their buns.

Thanks for the tip, guys. :D

This was posted in a book community I belong to and I thought some folks here might be interested. This is not yet a widely available book, but it can be bought on Amazon here:

Vets

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 5:35 PM
Oh my goodness! I can not believe how hard it is to find a vet in my area that will do rabbit spay/neuters. A lot will take the animal for nail clippings but won't preform a spay/neuter. I have two vets who are calling me back with answers on whether or not they do them and the price quotes on which. I think I found the one I want to go to . It's about 30/45 minutes away, they say they have done a good amount of rabbit spay/neuters. It's only going to cost around $95 for the neuter and $42 for the consultation, which is really reasonable price. Once My fiance and I get the money Kahlua will be going in for his neuter. I think it's about time he gets neutered. He's about 5 1/2 - 6 months old, and starting to show signs of "puberty". When ever we put our hand in his cage he lunges and nips, but after that he's fine. Same as when he's out of his cage he's absolutely fine and sweet and lovable. It's just putting your hand in his cage initially. He's especially bad with food, I usually have to cox him up to the second level and give him lots of pets or a treat while with my other hand is putting his food in the cage. He nipped Josh last night when he went to clean the cage and put fresh bedding in. I want to get him neutered sooner then later because I don't want his nipping to become a nasty little habit.

So, what questions should I be asking the vets before I completely decide which vet I am going to chose.
Any information will be appreciated =]

a very bunny christmas!
