First you need patch 1.5, which adds proper widescreen support. Sometimes that is all you need, and when you load up the game widescreen resolutions will be in the menu.
If like me it doesn't, you need to go to the Battlefield 2142 Preferences folder, which is in the Preferences folder in your Library folder (ie not root level of the harddrive, your user folder)
Open the config file in TextEdit and add the following line right at the bottom -
[AppDefaults\\BF2142.exe\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "+widescreen 1"
Now save (keeping it as a plain text file) and launch the game. Now a load of widescreen resolutions should appear in the video section of the options!

360 is in Germany, awaiting repair. Yay.
A water main nearby our house burst this morning, flooding our row of houses and the one in front of us. Luckily it didn't get in the house proper, just the front hall. Next doors puppy loved playing in the dirty water in their garden.
Mum is still in hospital, shes getting a bit fed up.
Got The Animatrix on blu-ray for £15 thanks to Zavvi's clearance sale!
Mostly playing Sonic Unleashed (frustrating beyond belief at times), Sam & Max Season One (oh so funny) and Shadowrun (pretty good, especially since its cross platform Vista/Xbox 360)

Why the hell are Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, Speed Racer and Star Wars: The Clone Wars up for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel 2008? None of them are that bad!

Our cheap secondary Blu-ray player (£99 in Argos pre-christmas sale) upscales SD content playing from a BD. The PS3 on the other hand (launch model, ie £425) does not.
THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!

But i went to see Persepolis at the cinema.
Wow, what an amazing film. It should of won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Sorry Ratatouille, but as fun as you where it was nothing compared to this.
Go and see it, if you can.
Also, GRRR at my paid account running out. Will be back to my non ad addled LJ in a couple of weeks.

"Using a Mac Mini as a HTPC. Will need -
One Mac Mini
One TV Tuner (EyeTV Hybrid - already have. Need latest software, £24.99 download)
Cables - DVI to HDMI or VGA. Both would need a solution to existing cables - VGA KVM with audio? HDMI - need a way to keep xbox 360 audio and mac mini audio connected.
External hard drive. Firewire, as big as poss storage - use to store converted for iTunes/Front Row video files, download video and music
Turbo h.264. Optional, to speed up converting of video files from as recorded MPEG2 to h.264
Free stuff -
Mouse. Already have good cordless mouse. Keyboard. Already have bluetooth apple keyboard
Mouse software from logitech to make sure i have an idea on battery life left
Front Row add on to link to Eye TV. Free from EyeTV support forums.
Set EyeTV to auto convert recordings to AppleTV format, with auto add to iTunes selected. This will mean you will only have to go from Front Row to EyeTV for watching live TV and setting recordings."

Its a Pacific Eco model from ASDA (their own make i think).
Works really well, picked up EVERY channel - which is something none of the other Freeview boxes/TVs in the house can do! Might be due to the aerial of course.
The Freeview box in the kitchen (serving a second purpose as mums room at the moment) has problems with picture quality at times, and that has an outside aerial. Meanwhile the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid on my mac is missing some channels from its listing, and the HDTVs built in tuner finds all channels but some dont work.
So thats good. It also doesn't list any encrypted channels, expect for ones that have preview times. Since it doesn't have a card slot its not like you can watch the few that there are on DTV via terrestrial.
Also it has a SCART pass through - what ever is connected to to its second SCART socket gets passed through to the TV via the first SCART socket when its on standby. Very clever, saves messing around changing cables over when wanting to use my ddv player!
Best of all - it cost £20.99.

Amazon.co.uk are having a "dead format walking" sale on HD DVD's.
Heroes Season 1 is over half price (Link)
The Bourne boxset is £17.97 (Link)
A BOGOF on Warner Bros HD DVD's (Link)
Plus many other titles are under a tenner. Id recommend looking at the Top 100 for starters (Link)
We picked up The Bourne boxset, Hot Fuzz and Spartacus for £30 odd for the lot. Not bad.

Superbad was very good, very funny. Looked good in HD, nice surprise for my first pure comedy HD purchase. (Shaun of the Dead isn't a pure comedy :))
I also watched the first episode of Galapagos. F**king awesome, it was like there was a window on the islands and I was looking through it!

Or should that be I HATE SHINEY PLASTIC. *glares at TV and PS3*
How many times a week do i have to gently dust them! Also, how many times do I dust them only for more dust to appear when I turn my back. I swear its some kind of plan to make me go insane. GRRR

I just noticed something while playing around with my PS3 - you now stay logged into PSN and get udates when friends sign in while playing all PSone games - not just downloaded ones. Previously it would log you out when you started to play ones on disc, just like when you play PS2 games.
Did not notice till i looked at reviews of the US release of the 2 different Matrix HD DVD boxsets released in the US.
One (The Complete Matrix Trilogy) has PiP (Picture in Picture) commentaries, and some of the extras from the previous single releases of the Matrix on DVD, while the other (The Ultimate Matrix Collection) has the same as the Complete, but with all of the extras from the previous DVD releases of Matrix on he flip side (DVD). Plus it has an extra 2 double sided discs (DVDs), with The Animatrix (in SD :() and the 3 bonus discs from the DVD Ultimate Collection boxset.
The UK boxset has the films as double sided discs but not the other 2 discs. So its sorta inbetween the 2 US releases.
Dont really miss the other 2 discs though - ive got the Ultimate Collection DVD anyway. Only thing that might of been missing is The Animatrix, but they chose to keep it in SD on the US HD DVD Ultimate Collection. They better give it a separate HD release soon!
